The northern area of the continent, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, the Guyanas, Panama, Peru, Suriname and Venezuala are home to Yellow Fever and this vaccination is either required or highly recommended for visitors to these nations. It is also recommended for certain regions of Argentina, especially for longer visits.
For most countries the recommendation is to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A, Tetanus & Typhoid, For extended visits and for those making regular trips, one needs to consider Diptheria, Hepatitis B, Rabies and TB. Cholera does not usually present a problem in South America, and the risk of Malaria is varied, with higher risk associated with the equatorial region and the north.
The advice given here assumes that primary courses have been received, i.e. diphtheria, tetanus and polio given during childhood. If this is not the case, please let us know during your consultation.
