Medicentre Health Screening Programmes are based on the principle that prevention is better than cure. The programmes can help identify early stages of disease and provide you with an evaluation of your overall state of health.

Poor levels of fitness can also contribute to problems in other areas, so an integral part of our health screens is to advise on how to safeguard your future health having identified risk factors which, if allowed to continue, could lead to problems and possibly even life-threatening conditions.

Health screening is about prevention and early detection: The main risk factor of coronary heart disease are smoking, raised plasma cholesterol, raised blood pressure and lack of physical activity. All of these factors can be influenced by changes in lifestyle and behaviour.

Before you are screened, you will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire which provides us with a picture of your medical, social, domestic and work history. A nurse will be assigned to you to assist with this process before the doctor conducts your health check.

After it is completed, you will receive a report that contains a review of the clinical findings, test results, conclusions and any  recommendations on how best to improve and maintain your health. We usually manage to provide this on the same day, thereby giving the screening doctor the opportunity to discuss his or her conclusions with you. A fully detailed report then follows during the next ten working days. All Medicentre Health Screens are subject to a strict and regular quality assurance process.

There are two levels of screening, the Well Man and Well Woman screens which provide a well-rounded overview of your state of health and includes screens such as those for prostate and cervical cancers. The WM & WW screens last around an hour.

The second level is the Full Health Screen, which is a full and thorough assessment and which includes biochemistry profiles and encompasses hearing and vision tests. These screens take approximately 2 hours.

We also conduct many other screens to meet specific industrial or commercial needs, as varied as those for government drivers and the offshore industry. This level of expertise and experience means that our clinical team can also develop tailored screens which can, for example, include drug and alcohol screening. Please contact us if you would like an exploratory chat without obligation.
