Bernie Nolan has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Bernie Nolan, the actress and Nolan sister, has announced she has breast cancer.
The 49-
Bernie, who was born in Dublin, spent many years singing and touring with her sisters before moving into television where she starred in series such as 'Brookside' and 'The Bill'. Most recently she took part in ITV's reality TV show 'Pop Star to Opera Star'.
Speaking about her 10-
"We should be called The Cancer Sisters, shouldn't we? All my family have been amazing, all my sisters phoned me with support and love, Linda particularly because she has had a mastectomy. Something like this brings you closer together."
Two of her sisters, Anne and Linda, have already fought the disease. So far her other sisters, Loose Women presenter Coleen, 45, Maureen, 55, and Denise, 58, are clear.
The actress, who has starred in The Bill and Brookside, was diagnosed after deciding
to have a lump in her breast checked in April. She had discovered it over Christmas
but had dismissed it as a harmless cyst similar to one she had in 2006. Her visit
to a clinic was also delayed by her 'hectic' schedule -
She told GMTV: "I am definitely going to have a mastectomy. I have just told the doctor to get it out of me."
